William, Have you looked at the Google play feature that allows you to do staged rollout https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/3131213?hl=en to a select group of testers? It's an amazing feature, and you can use a control group, get feedback and then iterate while still keeping the application closed off. Once "imeiva" you can then push out a release to the wider public having incorporated invaluable feedback from your control group.
