I know this is kinda off-topic in relation to the purpose of what this forum is supposed to be about, but i have an inkling to understand why this guy is so infamous/famous in the tech community. His name elicits A LOT of mixed reactions...granted i just recently started visiting his site techmtaa.com which today posted a controversial article in relations to Ihub ( http://www.techmtaa.com/2012/03/05/what-is-the-true-intention-of-ihub-board-...) but i would rather hear from other skunks who may have dealt with the guy if his bad rap-sheet is justified or is it just the work of haters. Some of the points he's arguing about Ihub has some weight but i personally disagree with the areas about the current crop of green members not needing the facility because they can afford to pay for themselves. Speaking as a student and also for my colleagues, the Ihub center has given me a lot of opportunities to enhance my craft so i would beg to differ on that. So my fellow skunks, is this the case of a blogger running his mouth without the full facts to back him up or..is he one of the many misunderstood folks around???
Hi Sherminator! Not all innovations of hackathons at the iHub are a pure fail as stated in the blogpost. I was part of the team that won the water hackathon last year October sponsored by the World Bank. Right now we are designing a software solution dubbed MajiVoice. A citizen water feedback and monitoring system that will enable Kenyan to complain about water services via mobile and web platforms. Such opportunities would have not been open to developers through conventional tendering processes. The bank has seen the use of such ecosystems to develop more solution around social innovations for water. So there is hope! Without being judgemental, I think the best thing for you under the circumstances is to look at each of his blogposts individually and get the real facts. That way you can counter his posts with facts. IMHO, your post falls under/borders on the above rule - Personal Attacks. @ Sherminator No worries. His name has come up in this list once in a while and there was a very very heated and distasteful thread that followed - which ended up with the removal of his suspected aliases from this list <that was about 2 yrs ago> I guess you joined this list and missed that [?] [?] In summary - such kind have scared many renowned names/leaders from participating and contributing to a list like Skunkworks by using scathing remarks. But I believe the move by moderators after that thread has streamlined Skunkworks with rules and regulations and sometimes you will hear stations like NTV/KTN quoting this thread on a technical debate - which I believe has been a good step forward.
