Me thinks there was a time being a programmer was cool, and there were a flood of "coders" who did it because of that reason, not because they had it in them; at that time php, mysql, java were the most popular language. So there a million people who can "do" php, joomla, mysql, wordpress - till you give them a project and ... shock! From my experience there are very few actual programmers. Having been a small time professional coder for nearly a decade, the main issue i have struggled with is getting helping hands who can deliver on time and budget and i retain a small net income (client fees - coders salary). It takes over 12 months minimum to get one on a project without fulltime hand holding. So i decided to take the bull by the horns and become a lecturer of coders. I am taking some 4th years. when i demanded that since majority want to use php/mysql, they get into frameworks, scm(git), learn a bit of css and js(angular,jquery) 90% protested thats its too much work. they need time to pass units and interestingly the software development unit is not examinable!
