offsubject: friday closer. ever design speaker cabinets/boxes?

back in early 90s, there was a demand and designing these cabinets boxes was not an easy thing. possibly many may not know that the cabinet/box produces the correct sound ( with speakers, unles you use specials like Bose, JBL). And please not those things that are a box with blanket material in it and stuffed in your car boot......I worked on one project and we worked with displacement volume of air per speaker size with internal channels and divisions between woofer, mid range and tweeters. It was called WOOD TUNING! yeah, its true. Too big a box and you get muffled sound while too small sound like a speaker in a tin can. horrible. next time you want that real sound without much graphic equalizers, I think there should be online formulas to do the right box. ( those days the net was unknown ). The best speakers I'll remember were huge anti-static original JBL flat that would probably stop your heartbeat if you touched the static electricity speakers. These needed quad amps to drive the static across the diaphrams. :-)

Moral of the story is....??? 2009/5/15 aki <aki275@googlemail.com>
