After more than a year of not using Safaricom 3g, seems there aren't many choices...

Orange 3g+ has become a dialup service, frequently drops out and also looses internet gateways connecitivity. It's become a very poorly managed network. Speedwise, it closely resembles Edge. Over then back to Safcom. It surely has improved quite a lot and the rates are now similar to what Orange offered a while ago i.e 1ksh/Mbyte. Am still to try AFOL services in a few months time so keeping an open mind. Orange and Airtel 3g are still dreams, so Safcom I think now takes the lead over real 3g versus competitive pricing. The only thing I noticed was that Safcom 3g seem to be routing internet connecitivity over satellite, the average is about 610ms. Not run traces as don't have time to. Me thots.

hmmm guess I'm stuck with Safcom. I was abt to jump the boat to Orange cos of pricing and all. On Thu, Mar 24, 2011 at 11:38 PM, aki <aki275@gmail.com> wrote:

depnding on where you are, orange 3g can be as fast as safcom. havent used it in a while but while in langata a while back, i consistently and reliably clocked 2mbps, with little jitter on that graph on the huawei modem client i was using (was using an unlocked saf modem) .... but ive heard stories of downtimes, and bugs with the billing system when u pay the 1k for one week unlimited.... but those are quite rare anyways. so if u have a good orange 3g signl where u r, lucky u :-) On 3/27/11, Bernard Mwagiru <bmwagiru@gmail.com> wrote:
