In my opinion the amazon fire tv, amazon fire stick, & apple tv are best for non-techies. The UI's are easy to use and you can easily setup netflix & hulu (and kodi for aftv). The android experience on the amazon devices may be heavily tweaked, but it works for the average consumer. If however you're willing to go for something a little bit more technical, then the other off-the-shelf android tv boxes will work. Regards, John K. Its not that kind of TV box. You need to subscribe to Netflix or other IPTV seperately. Closest comparison would be Appl TV. Purely internet television and movies and songs. From my experience Netflix & Amazon's (even Hulu at times) streaming quality are the best and most reliable. I'd say Kodi streams are at best 60% reliable, either they'll keep buffering or they won't be available. Netflix is yet to give me issues, 2yrs down the road now. My 2c.

@Steve, I think the amazon fire tv and stick are available in Germany. Stick is $39 while the other is $99, I have experience with the amazon devices and they are quite solid.
