Hi Kennedy, I came up with a small application on using oracle forms and oracle express application to just insert the expenditure details and show all the expenditures in a list You can check it on the following url opened in a browser https://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=29768:1 Log in using the following credentials Username: test Password:1234 Thanks for being supportive Calvin Omari

You've seen how simple it is! Cheers! On Tue, Nov 17, 2009 at 1:21 PM, Calvin Omari <calvinebarongo@gmail.com>wrote:

No attachment! It sure is professional. Though I was studying this a while back it can do far much alot and actually its mean for things like this - small departmental applications. You can run it on Free oracle DB though that limits you to 4GB of data which I think is big enough. You can opt to use the free hosting as you've done or host it yourself. I believe you've gone through this - http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/... that should determine if it right for whatever you want to implement. Have a look at the sample applications also : http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/packa... All the best man. let me know how it goes ~KKK

There is the attachment please Oh Thanks I will so much like to be a pro in this am joining IST next year for a diploma in oracle

This is simple. should be possible with APEX. There's much more than APEX. Try looking at JDeveloper and you'll be amazed at the kind of enterprise applications you can come up with using Oracle Tools. All the best down this road. Regards,

I highly recommend this book http://www.amazon.com/Oracle-Application-Express-Experts-Voice/dp/159059827X... On Tue, Nov 17, 2009 at 3:28 PM, kennedy kariuki <kkairu@gmail.com> wrote:

Books are good but not necessary - Not in programming but it depends with a person. That's why I love Google...[?]

That is what i used to think too until experience taught me otherwise. You can take a book anywhere. Not so with google. On Tue, Nov 17, 2009 at 4:19 PM, kennedy kariuki <kkairu@gmail.com> wrote:

I'd actually prefer referring to Google that a book. A book gets outdated bla bla...You need to use a book to learn the concepts and that it e.g learn OOP but to learn PHP I'd go for Google....90% of the kidogo programming I've learned is from Google. My thoughts..

I'm not saying Google is not a good resource btw. I use it heavily myself. All I'm saying is when it comes to learning something from ground up, don't disregard the value of books. On Tue, Nov 17, 2009 at 4:30 PM, kennedy kariuki <kkairu@gmail.com> wrote:

If you really want to learn a language from ground up, it's recommended that you simply get the version of the language that matches the book you possess and learn the language. (If you have a php 4 book, simply download php 4), then you can "google" the difference, but at least you understand the working of the language well. This is the same rational used when introducing students to programming, older languages are taught. IMHO, its better to understand an older version of a language better than it is to understand the latest poorly. -- With Regards, Phares Kariuki | T: +254 734 810 802 | E: pkariuki@gmail.com | Twitter: kaboro | Skype: kariukiphares |
