As long as you are able to get the modem on a serial connection then it is pretty straight forward, what kind of modem are you working with? AFAIK, nope. If you want Kannel to talk to a modem, it's got to be connected to the machine Kannel runs on. If you can get your preferred operator to give you IP connectivity to their SMSC then you can use SMPP. Get or Install a virtual machine vmware or any other, install your linux distro then install kannel, you should be ready to go. - have done kannel setup on vmware with debian and with fedora 10, on both orange n safcom usb modems.
