This mostly high capacity disks have a high failure rate. some of them do not even outlive their short warranties. which shop stocks authentic parts guys? -- Bored? Hey, Before you toss your hard disk int the freezer, please provide the type and place of use, server, PC and laptop hard disks require different treatment. Logic: most 'natural' hard disk failures are due to residual thermal effects ( read: high temperature ) during the day-to-day running of the machine (disk ). Freezing temporarily reverses that effect. Magnetic properties of (most) materials ( on which disk read/write are based ) also improve with reduction in temperature. Hence....
