good point - what really is spam - not all unknown numbers are spam. and some companies who dont pay for a unique id may send messages using the same id. Its hard for any app to filter this out automatically Not that they don't exist - but you mind end up missing some important info. On Android, use Clean Inbox - SMS Blocker, learns spam by asking you if you consider such a message as spam and delivers the SMS to a folder and you don't see it on your normal inbox. You can go to the folder later for any false positives.
