Someone bench marked Safaricom 3g ( when the net is stable ) and download speeds were in the range of 60-140KB/s ( equivalent of 512k-1024k bandwidth). What about Zuku? benchmark and share pls. :-)
I can share that Orange 3g+ ( EVDO ) is slower than a dailup on downloads/uplaods. Max download is 7-9KB/s while upload is about 3-5KB/s. I switched back to Orange Edge........ -- Sign on my car is " L " plates : c#.net

Mark, that 2Mbit download is about 250KB/s download.( I used to get those on local loops eg local hosted server and client access until they messed with local routing in Jan..) Attached are speed tests I did a long time ago in the pre-Seacom days when I was in the process of moving from AFOL iburst 512 to a Zuku 512 connection. From the pdf file, its kbps , not KB/s. Big difference there : kbps is circuit speed while KB/s is data tranfer speed. Conversion from kbps into KB/s is /8. Therefore, the 512kbps connection on an average gave you 7.5KB/s @ 60kbps. Thats pretty slow ( similar to 3g+ )when considering safcom 3g gives upto 140KB/s @ 1120kbps.
