Hey beautiful faces, I would like a first hand experienced advice on an outdoor wifi AP that is capable of transmitting in walls and stuff "say in an estate with 100 houses or more." I realy do not want trial error devices tht have no testimonial from guyz here. Will really appreciate. Also let me know where i can buy one and how much it costs. Thanks guyz.

Sounds like you don't know you want ubiquity hardware... :-) An estate of 100 houses sounds huge..... you'll definitely need to transmit the network from several nodes around the estate. Additionally, if the roofs in that estate have iron sheets (even under the roof tiles), you can expect some interference and reduced range even with good gear.... you may eventually require houses in that estate to have wireless gear on their roofs which connect to wireless access points in the house (or have many wireless nodes spread around the estate), in an ISP-ish kind of way. this may put off many of your neighbours, but would offer the best service quality (you wouldn't want your neighbours climbing onto some shelf on some corner coz that's where that 1 bar of signal strength can be found) i expect you want to start small, providing net to the few houses around you. For this, you can get one of those 14-24 dbi point antennae from ubiquity (swift tech, 0722804920), and hook it up to a picostation/nanostation/rocket access point. You could also get those panel directional antennae, but you would need 4-6 of them for 360 degree coverage.... or you could just use a pico/nanostation (which come with their own tiny antenae), and provide services to 3-5 houses around you. from experience, the picostation (omnidirectional) offers better performance despite being inferior to the nanostation (uni direction) looking at their numbers. also, from experience, better service is achieved for everyone by transmitting from the top of the gate or balconi instead of from the top of roof (i live in an estate of mansionettes) anyways, call that 0722804920 for swift technologies. they'll advise you on the kind of gear you need. they're prices are good (in fact, the cheapest i know in kenya for that guy. don't go to jamia mall). If skeptical, experimenting or on a tight budget, get the picostation m2 for 8-9k first. On Sun, Dec 16, 2012 at 11:32 AM, Ti Dave <dave.kirirah@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi Dave, What you are looking to achieve is not possible using a single WIFI AP. You need a distributed wireless access system and for 100 houses you have to be ready to spend good cash on it. On Sun, Dec 16, 2012 at 11:32 AM, Ti Dave <dave.kirirah@gmail.com> wrote:
