Yes, seriously, most aircraft navigation on old small aircrafts still use floppies - I have seen this! ./Ok3ch On Tue, May 6, 2014 at 12:41 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com>wrote:

Contrary to popular belief, aircraft systems, especially hardware, are rarely upgraded. Mainly because there is no need to, and also getting new systems approved for use in aircraft is a very long, very slow, very expensive process. Practically the only reason a system is upgraded/changed is to address flight safety concerns, not just because a new, shiny system exists/has been created. Also, the amount of data exchanged is small enough not to warrant higher-capacity systems, so floppies work just fine. You therefore will keep seeing old serial and proprietary ports many years after USB became the norm. </seriousness> <movie script> That said, maybe someday, aircraft will have a USB port for the pilots to upload their music. And the developers will feel a *need* to allow this to access the flight management system. And then some tool will figure out a way to upload and autorun something. Nasty. Enter zombie aircraft. </0.00002c> On 5/6/14, Branton Obwari <bruceobwari@gmail.com> wrote:
