If you bought Apple's shares recently, you don't have to worry about it's future - Its still taking over. www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=24346

They didn't get in to the SIM Card Business, because there is no SIM card business. What Apple is trying to do is push for a micro-SIM standard even smaller than the current micro-SIM so that they can be able to make smaller and thinner devices. On the other camp is Nokia, Motorola pushing for a different standard.

Apple once even tried to convince US & UK operators that consumers do not need detachable SIM cards and have all SIM features embedded on the phone, but the idea fell off on the way! ./Ok3ch On Tue, Apr 3, 2012 at 9:06 AM, Philip Musyoki <pmusyoki@gmail.com> wrote:

The idea apple has is to start its own MN operations. That was Steve Jobs dream. Something I read last week is brewing towards that option, lets wait and see. On Tue, Apr 3, 2012 at 9:09 AM, Okechukwu <okechukwu@gmail.com> wrote:

An interesting read: http://www.theverge.com/2012/2/16/2786970/FRAND-smartphone-industry-apple-mo... "everything from USB to HDMI to Blu-ray is governed by a standard group, and most of them work well together. But the sheer amount of money and potential in the mobile industry has thrown things way off the rails" Which in some way explains why the mobile industry in Kenya is considered by potential investors or those already in it as a hardball industry. But as Brian says lets wait and see. On 4/3/12, Brian L <lusiola@gmail.com> wrote:

Having an embedded SIM is not such a great idea, your phone can be "locked" to an operator

Imagine how apple would love that? And mobile phone thieves hate it. Sent from my iPhone On Apr 3, 2012, at 6:31 PM, Dennis Kioko <dmbuvi@gmail.com> wrote:

I actually think it is a brilliant idea. The embedded SIMs will be programmable and this you will be able to changer carriers any time you want.

http://www.theverge.com/2012/3/26/2904153/apple-vs-nokia-4ff-nano-sim I'd definitely prefer Apple's proposed design.

What about jail breakers like us ?As far as we can jailbreak comfortably..we go for it Kimani From: skunkworks-bounces@lists.my.co.ke [mailto:skunkworks-bounces@lists.my.co.ke] On Behalf Of Philip Musyoki Sent: Wednesday, April 04, 2012 9:32 AM To: Skunkworks Mailing List Subject: Re: [Skunkworks] Apple gets into the SIM card business I actually think it is a brilliant idea. I am sure the jailbreak tools can re-program the embedded SIM. Furthermore, Jail-breakers are the 'scum of Apple's earth.'

Tehcnology is meant to be simple. Normal users don't fancy jail breaking . The current Apple proposal looks simpler than Nokia's , why is Nokia changing the PINs? On 4 April 2012 11:19, Philip Musyoki <pmusyoki@gmail.com> wrote:

Apple's design is backward-compatible with the original SIM by use of an adapter just as it works currently with the micro-SIM. With the Nokia and cabals design, old phones currently in use will not be able to use their designs. I support the Apple proposal.
