Re: [Skunkworks] POS - Clothing Shop

@Daniel Kimotho. You would have issues - Security. -Bandwidth.-online shoppers or slow counter sales wont be problem. But a serious restaurant, supermarket etc .you might end up having a paper and pen before posting later. -You would need to play with a number of tricks to be sure that what you are reading in reports is real.Order management(online and offline),Available items(for online and offline),order statuses, sales etc. -You might need strategies on both online/offline processing of data over single site to business spread over multiple locations. -Somewhere you might need to seperate things up and have an integration instead when it comes to real operation. You can view this simple PHP http://www.phppointofsale.com/ for POS features. POS is always a complex segment of business software. My experience shows that you would always find something to improve, somethings to bend, something to loosen , as business procedures are not standard, always evolving .some customers can change their practices to fit the software, but others find it hard to change ways that have been giving them advantages over competitors.Sometimes changes would mean business losses. I think the more tech guys try more POS products around and share their honest analysis and experiences, the more likely we can come up with a powerful product that would fill the gap. -- Regards, Nicholas Peter.* Kinpro Computers.* *Box:*16954,Arusha. *Tel :*+255 732 972287. *Mobile**:* +255 754 914652 *Email: *kinprocomputers@gmail.com =============================================== Products: Software systems for :School management, Point of Sale On 1/28/15 1:22 PM, Daniel Kimotho via skunkworks wrote:

phppointofsale is ok, the fact that they provide a one off purchase for the standaone version is unique.. a number of limitations noted from the demo version I just tried out; - lack of an integrated accounting solution - automated product re-ordering based on product movement - limited cost accounting abilities high-end commercial POS solutions cover these limitations, however, with sufficient technical knowledge you can setup similar systems with the opensource equivalents for much less. I'd recommend in addition that you get a system that gives you the bar code with the label printing option - its always a + in the clothing business. A POS that can integrate credit card payments(at some point) is also in order.. A number of major clothing retailers will tell you that their customers prefer to swipe their way out these days. On Thu, Jan 29, 2015 at 11:06 PM, Patrick Kariuki <patrick.kariuki@gmail.com
