Can i make my laptop wifi an Access Point

Hello folks , Im running an old laptop on ubuntu, it has wireless for catching those stray unsupported wifi for torrenting and all, i would however like to make better use of it. Like make it an AP to feed the appetite of my Greedy (Yes VERY GREEDY) Huaweii IDIOT, which incidentally is usually not very far from my laptop which has internet from between Butterfly to CDMA. Does anyone know how i can do this in ubuntu (or any .nix flavour) -- *“The twentieth century has been characterized by three developments of great political importance: the growth of democracy, the growth of corporate power, and the growth of corporate propaganda as a means of protecting corporate power against democracy”* ~ Alex Carey ~ Tel No: 0x2af23696

On a windows7 laptop, I easily achieve the same (and more [?]) using connectify. I doubt if there's a *nix alternative to connectify. The closest I've heard someone create an AP on ubuntu is: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WirelessAccessPoint.
