In my own opinion, in this day and age,I'd recommend you pursue a more generic certification such as CISCO CCNA/CCNP rather than Microsoft or any OS specific certification. You can always learn the OS from working experience "box" yourself with one OS, and it costs quite abit as well. Just to illustrate the lady who works as our divisional assistant has an MCSE Certification. As if that's not enough Microsoft "Retires" exams so you have to re-certify every so often. Once you jump on this train you are in it for life otherwise you loose your entire certification. You are their cash cow ;-) Sad but true. Let the floodgates open now. Kiania D. David, not necessarily. Microsoft Exams pre 2006 do not expire while post 2006 expire and have to be renewed when the technology one was certified on is retired. So for instance, one is certified on Windows 7 and Server technologies 2008/2011, that takes it about 4 or 5 years, then you upgrade. Not a bad idea since Microsoft are doing a lot of innovation at the moment and they would not like to carry baggage of certified but non performing certified professionals. Though I don't understand this pre-post 2006 thing. Cisco has the same program to ensure you stay current on their list.
From experience therefore I would advise Kitur to go ahead and pursue a dream career in any of the above. It pays to make the right choice.

Kitur, you should also consider taking the LPI certification - www.lpi.org- besides your Microsoft Certification. Linux server skills are in high demand. LPIC come in 3 levels and is vendor neutral. Once you certify in one level, you must renew the certification within 5 years. But if for instance on the 4th year you take the higher level, then you do not need to re-certify the lower level. All the best in you endeavours. Evans On Mon, Jul 11, 2011 at 5:22 PM, george muchori <gnmuchori@gmail.com> wrote:
