I have, I got such from two of my friends and the funny thing is, the emails were filtered as Skunkworks mail as they were put in my mailbox, so I'm not so sure if you guys got them also. There had been a brief discussion on a thread some time back about something similar but there was no conclusive solution. What's bad is that if you check the headers, the send to everyone in their address list. I was thinking of setting up a filter to automagically deletes mail comming in with subject "hi friend" but i'd have to do it for everyone in my address list. Morning, I got a number of these emails from a friend of mine and when I asked her she did not have an idea where the mails were coming from. Could her login credentials have been compromised? because the emails are sent to everyone in her address book? Regards. On Mon, May 18, 2009 at 5:46 AM, James Muendo <timrick@gmail.com> wrote:

I think I know how people get into these traps! Of late I have seen (and rightly deleted) some e-mails which appear as if they are from someone who knows you, inviting you to join them on a site which is made to look like another of those "Social Networking sites". Once you click the invite, you are presented with a window that literally asks you to input the password to your e-mail account (the one the invite was sent to). I believe this is what many people have fallen to, and had their identities stolen! I've seen one called Flixter, and a couple others but all I have done is to follow the rules until they ask me to key in my password - then I simply delete the mail. Funny thing is when you delete the mail, they keep reminding you that the invite/private message from so and so is about to expire.... -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ "Clothes make the man. Odhiambo's analogy is true but in the case one doesn't respond you'll stl get the mails from your friends or some inexistent ones. There was a time FaceBook had issues where one was invited by someone to be their friends. Once you accept the friendship then spams flock your email inbox! Looking at the addresses in my address book, the last thing(s) I would want to see are emails from certain very respectable people in my address book asking me what *this* is all about. Me. 2009/5/18 john maina <mwasjunior@gmail.com>

It can't be a worm, unless you guys want us to think like Windows LUsers. How does a worm get into your web-based address book, like in Yahoo/Gmail, etc? I've received the same type e-mails from a friend who says she never sent the e-mails at all, yet the e-mail was sent to everyone in her Yahoo address book. After that, I have also received same mail from one of the contacts that were in her address book - see the cycle?
