Whining aside, the pay should be per machine. Who knows how many machines the intern will format in that one day? Be the employer you want yours to be.
I am sure most of us while in campus would have picked up the gig without so much raising an eyebrow, its demand vs supply. Let those who feel they can do the job at the listed price supply
