Dear All, So I have been thinking lately, the forum has brought together some of the most brilliant minds in ICT in Kenya and around. Which is all good, but now I think somethings are getting out of control. It has been a useful resource but all this is really getting lost is the myriads of abusive language some threads are taking. Now the utility is being dimished by some people, or rather I think it is just one person who goes by many alias. To the moderators/administrators of the forum, it is possible to limit email distribution to those subscribed to the list, prevent cross-posting and somehow place some control on new subscriptions? Maybe you can adapt a by invitation only system where by new members will need to be invited by an existing member. Soon, with the direction the language in this forum is taking, it will become a forum of no value like some other forums I know. Many people are now shying away from contributing for fear of being personally attacked by some characters. Thanks.

I agree and this "Onyango" has now been made so famous since you know the mantra. "All publicity is good publicity". This man is surely not going for the Pope's seat and so might not need the good accolades after all and he will be a good recruit for anyone interested in an internet *** kicker. I concur with Philip on this. Some form of strict moderation are needed, for example, because any comment is posted it should be verified by the moderators. In addIn addition, the moderators can 'fire' all of us and we re-apply for consideration. The re-application can have strict applications rules. We need to return some sanity in this forum. Solomon The moderators wont go the way of "fire all" since they fear loosing the numbers. How many are in the list? How many are serious contributors? And are the serious contributors the only valued members? I think that the silent always in such lists have more power and value than the everyday contributors but for show of list activity, the contributors are neccessary. In agreement with theus and odada, members have a role of keeping off non constructive stuff, and the moderators keeping tabs of discussions that are headed down the drain and issuing an alert to the protagonists, then a warning, then maybe a suspension. Or it is a case of multiple personality syndrome. All the different personas do not know about each other. But is such cases, the personas have different characters, in our case, they seem to have the same character. Anyone who has studied this syndrome can explain to us.
I see the same syndrome with Politicians only they are confident enough to come out in public! :-) I know many of the contributors in this list and have my respect for them. But do not know many of the Characters who run on aliases. Many associations recruit based on referrals. A lot of the abusive language issues might not rub the younger people on the list wrongly but are a sign of total disrespect to the more mature people on this community. If someone is not willing to stand by their critisms using their real identity I believe they should not use this forum. I vote for regulation. Ignoring him works in some instances for example, personally the guy has tried to be friends with me on twitter, facebook, myspace ... and all the social networks on earth, yet he knows I cannot stand his ideologies (I just wonder why he keeps trying) and so I just ignore his requests. On another hand, we cannot build a very large good community of like minded persons, and one individual comes and destroys all this - I say ban him and ban him and continue banning him till the end of time when he comes with new aliases. I just wonder why the whole fixation with the guy. What makes him get full all these coverage from last year everywhere you go. The man attracts an audience. The last time I went to his meeting at The Hood last year he was addressing almost 300 people with Orie Rogo Manduli, Hon Millie Odhiambo, Charles Keter, Kepta Ombati, Orina Nyamwamu, Ann Njogu, senior NMG editors, Standard Writers and many people present. Infact I remember him having a big argument with The Hood management on the meeting because it was just too big Alai will be back. Living off nothing but the internet for more than two years is hard and this man knows his way through the maze. If you know him from Secondary School you will know that this man has lived a full life.
