I guess there's uncertainty surrounding the ban. A court ruling made 2 or so weeks ago found it unjustified (the Transport CS failed to submit concrete proof of why it should be upheld). However, the situation on the ground has yet to go back to normal especially after there was no solid directive to reverse the ban... leaving transport operators in a limbo. Most of the operators have chosen to err on the safe side - refraining from night travel. I'll avail the source of the court ruling as soon as I locate it :) Tony.

I heard that it has been lifted and the operators can resume once they are cleared by the ministry. Problem is not a of them have been so the ones that have dont want to risk going it alone. For security purposes On Wed, Jun 4, 2014 at 12:03 PM, Tony Likhanga <tlikhanga@gmail.com> wrote:

Tony.
If my english teacher taught me right, there *has never been a night travel ban*. Only regulations, which means comply and you can have the night travel license. Whats so difficult in complying? (coz the owners have hidden agendas - don't want to emply(2) drivers, 8hrs limit per driver, drivers are alcohol/drug addicts and wont meet the threshold, their sights are failing even in their early age, monthly pay etc etc etc) The CS has repeated this o many times, it's almost choking me. Kind Regards, Wilson./

TrueDat Wilson! I'd have expected an 'organised & established' bus company like 'Coast Bus' to have complied ages ago.... but I guess that's not how things work in that industry. Tony.

The government has made it hard to comply with the new rules. Why are people so trusting of a government made up of politicians but not of their fellow citizens? On 4 June 2014 14:52, Tony Likhanga <tlikhanga@gmail.com> wrote:

How hard? When saving lives? Its high time we stood our ground as govt (wewe na mimi :) ) Kind Regards, Wilson./

Interesting that the debate is not on the regulations but on the requirement to comply with them. I guess you can never win as a government. On Wed, Jun 4, 2014 at 5:05 PM, Thuo Wilson <lixton@gmail.com> wrote:

I agree that the night ban does save lives, but disagree that it's bus companies that have refused to comply. Even without the ban, used to fear travelling at night. Even now, a night trip between Machakos and Nairobi will leave you deeply worried. On 4 Jun 2014 17:06, "Thuo Wilson" <lixton@gmail.com> wrote:
