Best Data Backup Solution for a Middle Sized Company

Hello Skunks Trust you are well please furnish me with info on the above subject..both local and global solutions :-)

What is a middle-sized company? How much data volume are we talking about? Have you personally considered a SAN or NAS? What were the shortcomings for your environment? Okay, some questions are quite vague, especially when they in turn generate more questions than answers. I don't think there is a single off the shelf backup solution that fits all. Your question is vague. Data backup is nowadays very broad term. Do you mean best tape data backup solution, remote backup solution or cloud based system? if it is taped based, just buy the largest tapes you can find in the market, back them up daily and make sure someone takes them home for 'offsite' storage or get a bank to keep them, For remote backup, look at several service providers in the market like Safaricom, Quintica, MTN Business. They have solution know in the industry-speak as 'backup-as-a-service.' If you want cloud based storage, you have many options. You can buy capacity on Google Drive, Dropbox, SkyDrive and sync you backup data to the cloud. But the best cloud storage system that beats them all and will work for corporate is probably Amazon S3. You can buy scalable storage, and most NAS system support Amazon S3 backup. Prices are reasonable, and the infrastructure Amazon uses in world class with data centres in multiple locations.

I would say whatever the size of the company, data backup strategy is extremely important for business continuity, the only difference will come in the actual solution pricing that will change by size of company ./Ok3ch On Wed, Apr 25, 2012 at 12:19 PM, Philip Musyoki <pmusyoki@gmail.com> wrote:

Emmanuel, You have backup packages. Yes. Tell us how you implement your backup, what type of systems - the architecture. Everybody has backup packages out there so tell us why you think someone should consider yours - or remain silent! I don't think your answer is any useful for this thread.
