Good People, Follow my logic for a moment. System 'X' *MUST* have an ip address and port number in its 'proxy settings' config. I would like to use it without the proxy since this is stopping me from doing a number of things. We are together so far? Our proxy is an authenticated proxy which the new system is not built to use. If I were to use the default gateway on the proxy settings, which port number do you reckon I should use, or do I just let my imagination run wild? Alright, thanks! Let me try that. The vendor knows about the matter and has even specified it in the documentation. From a technical perspective, it's possible to use any kind of a proxy but this vendor has done some ju-jistu that makes it impossible to activate the system while using an authenticated proxy. The option I wanted initially as described in the question did not work, there was no way to set a proxy address that would 'cheat' the system. I moved to option 2 as per your suggestion, got them to set up a transparent proxy on a different network separate from the one I was using before. So far so good, the system is behaving. Thanks. From a technical perspective, it's possible to use any kind of a proxy but this vendor has done some ju-jistu that makes it impossible to activate the system while using an authenticated proxy. Without the activation, I can't even go past the login window of the system!

Our proxy is an authenticated proxy which the new system is not built to use.
