A colleague of mine needs estimates for how much it would cost to provide backup power to Ubiquiti Nano http://www.ubnt.com/nanostation wireless APs, they run on 12 watts of power. It's for a large scale project, estimated to run over 140 APs.

Kwani he wants to supply them with backup power from a single source? Then perhaps s/he can multiply the power consumption of each unit by 140 times the number of hours s/he foresees keeping them up on backup. Is it called power factor or something?
Areba can tell better, although I see he's already given you the solution - a 600VA UPS for each! I think a 600VA UPS can keep one nanostation running for approximately 30 minutes???? I am not sure, but I'd love to test it if I were you.

Let us know how they ultimately go it..
