Next set the win 2k8 box as DMZ host (hunt for that setting in the router's configs)

am not running IIS. and the ports run well inside the server.

Port 80 looks ok, are you running IIS? If so check whether you have an issue with the IIS configs. You can check your event viewer's security logs for hits.
