Ok, so now let’s say you have the details of the sensitivity, volume, bandwidth etc. What comes next? You still need to know what the budget is. If they are willing to pay; lets say $20 a month, why would they go for dropbox when they can have their own server on the cloud?
My point is, the world as it is today will offer solutions depending on your budget, the rest just comes in second.

I think it depends on other factors than "how much he is willing to spend". Your thinking around this is quite pedestrian!
1. What type of data he needs to backup remotely
2. How often that data changes - hence how often to backup/sync
3. How often that data needs to be accessed and the size of the data - which determines how much bandwidth he'll need.
4. Volume of data - which will determine if he can go with the free services or opt for the pay options
