NAT is not and has never been a security against sniffing or otherwise. Nat was a bandaid to extend the ipv4 address space, then people decided it was "safe" due to obscurity but I think that's just laziness and quite a number of people/companies have paid for it. You need to understand the core functions of Mobile networks is to provide voice services and Data comes later so providing dedicated data services with static or dynamic public IPs is not a priority.

About the NAT issue, maybe they just don't have the public IP space, or they are doing this so that they can sniff on your traffic with deep-packet inspection more effectively. Orders from above. But I am sure they can do this without NAT.
Or maybe it is just a temporary solution as they work on their systems.
Anyway, since the landing of Orange owned LION2 cable, has anyone noticed any difference using the Orange network?
