
The biggest issue you have to confront is that if you setup your mail server to send out 50MB attachments, then since you are not in control of the recipient's mail server, you cannot change their setup. David FTP looks like a nice solution but to me, it seems a bit complex for the users(Both senders and recipients) to use the system. Also some of the senders will decide to use the ftp space to share and keep personal stuff.
