@ Dennis, from the basics. when you unlock, you just introducing a software that makes the modem universal. Once you buy a universal modem, its hardware is already to accept any SIM card. No additional software required. From my early learning, I was told hardware-based processes perform better than software-based processes. Now i've given you a technical operation and a user perspective. Maybe in the skunkwork meeting you can try to explore this school of thinking instead of continuing to insist on a product that does not give you a real value.

I have not had any such complaints myself yet I know many people who have unlocked. 

We unlock to save costs, why buy unlocked for more than tha Kshs. 2000 standard price for a modem. As for Zain speeds....
