Now why do I feel apps like Ushaidi are not just upto the crowd sourcing ideas is because the idea of Ushaidi was not new. During the Tsunami period, similar but non-web based apps were used and therefore Ushaidi is very limited to a one-time scenario. However, I'm not sure why the Ushaidi group never grew on the idea to a point where the app would have become a true short-term and long-term application to be used in the displaced persons situation. Anyway Ushaidi did try what they could as far I as I've seen the app/organization.
There is much to be done, I hope those who are ahead on coding are looking at KE and saying something can and must be done.
