IT Developer-Transport

Responsibilities

·         Installation and configuration, testing and maintenance of new and existing software

·         Providing support to the technical team and to the help desk

·         Reviewing current systems

·         Presenting ideas for system improvements, including cost proposals

·         Working closely with analysts, designers and staff

·         Producing detailed specifications and writing the program code

·         Testing the product in controlled, real situations before going live

·Preparation of training manuals for users

·         Analyzing user requirements;

·         Researching, designing and writing new software programs;

·         Evaluation and testing of new programs;

·         Maintain and support existing systems, which includes troubleshooting and correcting software defects, and providing support to the technical team and to the help desk

·         Improving  existing programs by analyzing and identifying areas for modification;

·         Writing and updating documentation including operational documentation, technical specifications and test plans;

·         Working closely with other staff, such as managers, designers, developers, systems analysts, users and sales and marketing professionals;

·         Attend meetings and provide consultation to clients on the use and possible enhancements to the systems

·         Investigating new technologies; & continually updating technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and/or external courses, reading manuals

 

 

Academic Qualifications :

• University Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Mathematics from a recognized University
• At least 3 years working experience in a busy environment.
• Evidence of successfully completed software projects or programs.

Required Skills

·         Proficiency with Delphi development language a must.

·         Ability to develop CGI website using Pascal, PHP, JScript, Apache 2.4 and AJAX.

·         Proficiency to work with PostgreSQL 9.X Database and writing PL/SQL scripts.

·         Expertise in current computer hardware and software

·         Experience with computer network communications

·         Basic electrical or electronic knowledge for the implementation of automated control systems

·         Good communications skills

·         Team-working skills

·         Self motivated and able to work without supervision

·         An appreciation of the bigger business picture, not just its IT requirements

·         Eye for detail and identifying problems

·         Ability to work to another’s design

·         Ability to work to tight deadlines.
