Hi people,
It might be useful to take a close look at the positioning of Bing, it's not really a search engine per se... it does search but the aim goes beyond search to helping the end user of the engine 'make sense' of the search results: “Today, search engines do a decent job of helping people navigate the Web and find information, but they don’t do a very good job of enabling people to use the information they find,”. This is why it's being positioned as a decision engine, rather than a search engine. I think of it as a general purpose decision support system for the ordinary internet user :-) - I think that's a valid problem to solve in general whether for any of the search engines out there.
