For AI and machine learning Matlab or Octave works best since what you would need hundreds of line to code in C or Java you just need like two lines in Octave/Matlab. As for the book lets just say iko pahali :) Study group idea is great but would be easier in smaller groups of lets say 5 people each My kobole.
