Maybe I see this differently, but I see this acquisition giving a lifeline to Nokia-Microsoft partnership. I see not a total, but kind of small revolt from the Samsung & HTC's of this world from Android, and giving a leeway for Nokia-Microsoft to join Apple & Google as being the real determinants of the mobile industry.

It's because Google controls many important pieces of Android. They own the Android trademark, and certify devices for "compatibility" compliance, before allowing manufacturers to use it. They also own the Android Market service, and restrict access to it, to compatibility-compliant devices. And they largely control the Android Open Source Project.
