Sure there are quite some bug in the Network Manager for the suse you are using, to be quite honest the issues were not fully fixed in 11.1 so lets hope there shall be changes in 11.2 which chuks in Nov.
Anyway you need to stop using Network manager controlled for network and use traditional ifup. That option is in network settings.
