Ubuntu 8.1 and > connect without any special configuration (they have safcom and zain configs). Ubuntu 8.04 is not auto but easy to configure although on some machines it may be hectic. You will find 'drivers' dependency culture absent on Linux:-) just type 'wvdial' at terminal or 'sudo apt-get install gnome-ppp' for fancier blinking two-connected computers icons...
On an earlier thread I mentioned (on upgrade to Ubuntu 9.04) forced to boot from an older kernel to successfully run " modprobe usbserial vendor=(HEX) product=(HEX) ('HEX' representing wireless usb device's vendor and product hexadecimals).

That said, you realise mobicos are supplying Windows drivers (firmware) pre-loaded on the devices usb themselves. When plug it in computer reads device as 'mass storage' media.
