I'm a Java refugee myself, just a few months old in Python. And I love most of what I've seen so far.
Check out Stackless Python as well, it has a very easy-to-use multi-threading model.
Stackless Python looks interesting. I haven't needed to do any real concurrency work yet, but I'll definitely check it out as soon as I get the opportunity.
