As a developer who uses C/C++ for my primary development, I can assure you when it comes to performance and power, You dont beat either of C and C++. True C++ is a beast of a language that can take you years and years just to begin to truly understaning it.
Apparently the writer had no bench mark stats for most of his arguements.
True C++ is probably the most difficult programming language to master today... lots of undefined behavior thats left to the vendors to figure out. Its weakness has also made it, its strongest point.
Without getting into too much C++ politics I'd say its still an interesting read
