Simon the problem with windows drivers is that the drivers for Vista biz, windows pro 7 , xp-pro are all different......

I do have the machine drivers which I had on the recovery CD provided with the machine, and the downloaded ones. Both of them refused to work even after numerous restarts after installing the drivers.

Windows 7 is very stable, I have not noticed any issue since I started using it about 4 months ago. If you were able to use the drive upon upgrade, try system restore to that earlier time.
