I hope one Bwana Mucheru and his ilk are keenly following this discussion, cause this particular one seems to have been a top - down decision.

@Brainiac - True and I have an issue with that too. An example, I did spend a good time of my working life once in Germany and all I got was google.de which defaults to German, and I never even clicked a single advert - not much of a lost revenue, but lost opportunity for me too, dont you think?

All am saying, have swahili in .co.ke, have German in .de, have any language in country specific URL, but don't redirect me when I make a request to .com and takes me to the country level specific. And why cant you just make the google.com/ncr to be default?

@okechukwu, whats the default language you would expect for instance google.cn to be in? and even going by the official and national languages, both English and Swahili are recognized as the official languages of Kenya. Which means we are bound to accept it if it comes from either direction, none is more preferrable based purely on that context.

I agree with @./Ok3ch

I think someone had also raised the following scenario a few days ago:
imagine a tourist who has just arrived and wants to use google, they
will immediately be faced with a language they cannot understand, all
their search results will be in kiswahili...

So I think Google should put a "Change language" link somewhere...

And then another thing, Kiswahili is also spoken differently all over
Kenya, very few speak kiswahili sanifu...

I think most of you remember the viral "Marijuana, makapendana,
makaoana" which is still kiswahili with a kikuyu touch.
