i hav tried unstalling and reinstalling everything but wapi! am even thinking of reverting back to my good old 6.0. Anyone has a work around?

If you are on ubuntu / other linux / or mac os x ... delete or rename the folder i your home directory called ".netbeans" /".netbeans*" and then reinstall netbeans... that usually fixes upgrade problems.
