Ati there's not a single digital tv in kenya. What do you think Zuku cable TV or DSTV is? The transmission modulation will always be analog (so that it can travel long distances) but the signal before transmission is digital. Thats why you need the decoders to demodulate the signal and convert it back to a format that can be viewed by the TV set. The Decoder acts like a set top box. if you've never noticed digital broadcasting has many features compared to analog. Things like Teletext, smartcard billing, voting on the telly etc. These are some of the features inherent in DSTV. So When you buy a Digital Television set you won't need those decoders, you'll never even use the RF port at the back of the telly if it has one. Digital TV has been here for some years now.

Small clarification needed Omondi, About the RF port....from what I've read, there is still need for antennae even with digital receiver TVs and STBs. Please correct me if I am wrong. -- Lusiola Brian Everyone has photographic memory, not everyone has film though.
