@Michuki, did you see the reason posted on another thread as to why the data is hosted abroad?

I will remain negative on the hosting until someone fixes it!. Sue me if
you want but am fighting for the local Mwananchi who is paying alot to
access important GoK data hosted abroad!.

Here's the real picture - develop apps that most common Wanjiku will
never use because its costs alot to access that content. You will and i
repeat you will only make profits when your traffic volume is beyond the
elite folks who read this threads.

That means the only day folks will afford to have internet because there
will be a package that charges Kshs. 100 for unlimited local/per Month
and 500 bob for International traffic on a 3G/4G service. Thats the day
the apps will bring you revenue.

As it stands right now, it costs Safaricom at least $300 per Mbps/Month
to connect you to London. The day that price will come down to $5 per
Mbps/month (where 90% of the traffic will be local). Then you can bet
your apps will make you profits.

The economics are simple 1Gbps from Safaricom DC to a local Peering or
Datacenter vs 1Gbps from Safaricom DC to London. If Safaricom have their
own infrastructure then you can calculate their link costs per month for
local vs Int.

So let me be negative today. You might (key word being might) thank me
later.

Mich.
