Just to add to what aki has mentioned. Lenovo already have the Intel chipsets on their thinkpad edge 13. The laptop has been available since Feb at about 600 dollars. Clearwire and Sprint have already made them available in the US

Hey @Wash,
Just as wifi a/b/g/n has become common place on Laptops/netbooks,
Intel is now embedding 4g/Wimax radio modules on newer machines with
Intel Core i5/i7 and Atom. The 4G/Wimax is based on the Intel Chipset
and Radio technology. Since many telcos are yet to go 4G/Wimax or are
in planning stages, the new development from Intel becomes a grand
chance for them to deploy Intel Chipset based 4g/Wimax which will
allow off the shelf technology convergence with telco/ISP core
networks. This is true convergence between off the shelf computers and
true broadband internet access. To the end user, they will see the
4g/Wimax stations as if they are wireless hotspots.
The other advantage of using the Intel 4G/Wimax technology is that
globally the 4G/Wimax sector is growing and thus using the same
technology platform would mean end users travelling in such countries
could connect seamlessly to such networks without the need for any
aditional hardware purchases and could also have global internet
roaming subscriptions.
HTHs.
