For all people using Gmail, this issue of skunkworks mail going to the Spam folder is a result of the IP reputation.
What happens is that gmail servers were used to the old IP that handled the list, but then suddenly, everything started coming from a different IP (the new host) - and there are 1500+ gmail users on this list.

We went from a cold start (the duration the list was down) to 1,500+ messages/day with no ramp, which put us on the radar immediately as "perhaps dodgy".

There isn't much I can do about that apart from persevere, and get recipients (you!) to hit the "not spam" button.

With time, google will understand:)
