Hello, my name is $name, how may i help you?

Brainiac: My name is collins, im calling from kilifi, and i cant connect to the Internet on your butterfly service.

$name : mmmmh, collins, lemme gather some information so that i can be able to help you.

$name: What is the nature of your problem?

Brainiac: My nanostation is not getting an IP address on the WAN side, I suspect your DHCP server is down.

$name: mmmh , what IP address are you getting on your machine? AAAAH?

Brainiac : Its reverting to the default DHCP fallback IP. Its not getting assigned an IP.

$name: ( a bit agitated) what ip address is that?

Brainiac: well, its 192.168.1.20

$name: mmh, there seem to be a problem there, its meant to get you an ip address in the range of 10.100.X.X

Brainiac: Yeah, would you know if there is a problem on this particular node?

$name: Well, there was a problem last week, but i am meant to understand it was resolved. Do you mind holding for a moment i confirm?

$name: sure, just dont disconnect me.

........

........

.......

Brainiac: Hello , ..... hello....

$name: Hi, yeah, im from speaking to the Engineers, they tell me the node is fine, connections are working.

Brainiac: Ok, which IP addresses are being assigned?

$name: just a sec:
$name: Well collins, I cannot give you the IP addresses being assigned because it is not meant to work that way, you are supposed to connect automatically and it picks your IPs and then you are fine.

Brainiac: Could you give me a sample of an active lease, at least so that i know the IP address range and gateway so that i just hard code it?

$name: You cant do that.

Brainiac: So what im i supposed to do?

$name: Well, gimme a sec.

.....

.....

....

$name: (speaking in a conspiratorial tone), Ok i have managed to get these for you, but we are not supposed to do this. In fact what i would recommend is you look for someone in kilifi using our service and checking the ip adress and then copying to your machine.

Brainiac: k, so whats the IP addresses youve gotten for me:

$name: its 10.172.*.*

$name: Enter that and restart.

Brainiac: Ok, whats the netmask?

$name: it will pick automagically once you enter the ip.

Brainiac: And whats the gateway and DNS address?

$name: [My favourite], those ones we dont use. The IP address is enough.

I Literally turned RED.
