The iPhone release before then 3G did not have the mobile 3G in them, so a simple software upgrade for 2 to 3.0 will not enable the 3G functionality. I also remember Steve Jobs then saying that the 3G technology available when the iPhone first came out consumed too much power and hence that&#39;s why the iPhone did not have 3G then. But the technology improved and the 3G was put in the the iPhone 3G.<br>
