I have a contact who has in stock some "Free-View" DVB-T2 STBs. Below is the mail that was sent to me regarding that - Verbatim +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ *Attached Is a receiver am currently stocking. Its 1.Free to air.(NO subscription of any kind forever) 2.CCK approved(The only one approved in Kenya as of last month) 3.Comes with open smart card slot (for future expansion,Pay per view events etc) 4.PVR functionality(One can record T.V programs) 5.HDMI port 6.RF passthrough (to connect to another TV set. 7.One year warranty. All for Ksh.9500/= What this product is not: 1.It is not competing with Go-TV /Star TV as these are pay tv channels. They might sell you the locked decoder for half price. But once your subscription ends you will be left with a box of no value to you.In addition these companies can exist the market anytime like smart tv and G-TV. 2.It is not competing with Digital set top boxes introduced in the market 2-3 years ago. These are cheap because they are DVB-T1 .The transmission of DVB-T1 will be discontinued in the next three weeks. You can call me for further details:0721911665 *+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I have not had a chance to sample the STB but I'm really impressed with the PVR provision, the HDMI port and the fact that it's free-view (not locked to any provider). Considering that my intention to import a 3view 3VHD box was sort of an overkill for my needs, any locally available alternative would be welcome. Like Wash, I would also be interested to review the Huawei box he mentioned.
