Lately I have been thinking of all this censorship and web blocking in China and I begun to think may be it is a good thing and may be in leads to some sort of development.
You are suggesting that censorship and web-site blocking can somehow act as a trigger for national development ?!?!
Everything has a positive side and I am inclined to agree with Musyoki. Why do techies think it's "impossible" (I never like this word) for such to happen? While we'd like to look at the Chinese govt decision as being draconian, we still fail to go deeper and analyze what the benefits are, yet we still go ahead and buy software to filter Internet content from our youths.I think China is using the top-bottom approach to solving the problems related to the Internet (which we all begrudgingly accept exist). If we have a rotten society at the top it will definately trickle down to our children and since it's expensive for individuals to police the Internet, why not let the govt do it? -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ "If you have nothing good to say about someone, just shut up!." -- Lucky Dube
