Lemme make an educated guess: If you are testing this between two computers - the "server" and your workstation, then it means you are having the wrong SMTP server address on the client. Change it to the ip.address.of.the.server.
If you are running your MuA on the server itself, then honestly I don't know - since you are not saying how your topology looks like.

When I try to email a recipient address I get the following error,"
